Hi, I’m Helen, author, writing coach and editor. I came to editing through a love of writing. My first short story was published as part of The Mistletoe Mixtape anthology in October 2022. Since then, I have had two novels published by Allison & Busby and hope to have more exciting book news very soon!
On my writing journey, I discovered that, for me, editing was as exciting as the writing process itself and I decided to join a professional body, do some training and look into launching my own coaching and editing business. Well, that was five years ago now…
Since then, I have taken a variety of courses and I’m fully trained in copy editing, proofreading, developmental editing, manuscript assessment and coaching – and continue to invest time in professional development as I work my way through the CIEP (Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading) and The Publishing Training Centre fiction editing courses. I am currently an intermediate member of CIEP, the Society of Authors and the RNA (Romantic Novelists’ Association) and specialise in editing genre fiction.
I was a writer first, which means I know what it is to be edited and how it feels to have work critiqued. I will treat your manuscript with honesty and respect (I know how many hours and how much of yourself you’ve put into it!) – and most of all, I will collaborate with you on your writing and support you in the next steps of your writing journey.
